remember sitting in my grandma's crowded living room in Tennessee with 20 other family members as my parents set up their carousel slide projector. Before long we were belly laughing at the infamous bouffant hairstyles and the horrendous 70s fashion choices projected onto the wall.
In between laughs, we were able to relive memories of family members who were no longer with us and have conversations about the context of each photo. (Why were beehive hairstyles SO popular back then??) Each turn of the projector seemed to bring us closer together.
To me, photographs are meant to be relived and not just taken. I began capturing images on film at the age of 26 when I purchased a used Pentax from eBay. The limited amount of images on a roll of film forced me to put my camera phone down and really observe the beauty in the world, and the people around me. I believe in the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. I believe in images that are itching to be printed, placed in beautiful frames and displayed on walls for years to come.
I was born and raised on southern hospitality, and after marrying my husband Andrew, we moved to the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Even though we call Northern Virginia home, I always try to take some of that southern hospitality wherever I go. I love traveling all around the world documenting love stories for couples and families.
My love for photography has brought me everywhere from the beaches of Southern California to the Virginia countryside. Whenever I pick up my camera, I strive to create beautiful and emotional images that tell a story and showcase the beauty of both the people in the images and the world around them.
Even with it's ups and downs, your life, your story, are beautiful and I can't wait to create images to show that!
As a creative, I find BEAUTY in the details.
I don't even know where to begin when describing how amazing and great Lauren and her services are.
From start to finish, Lauren was sweet, informative, flexible and professional. I felt like I had known her for years when we met up for our included engagement shoot, which made wedding day even better because I felt like another friend was there.

Weddings are easy, but marriages are hard. True love is a choice to continue loving when the butterflies fly away and you're tired of him leaving his dirty clothes on the floor or his ice cream bowls all over the place. When you're both too tired to clean the house and you wonder if your relationship is as ugly as your kitchen countertops are right now.
But true love is also dancing in the middle of your living room floor in your socks and PJs. It's catching him looking at you with messy hair and elbows deep in the sink finally cleaning up the kitchen. It's feeling calm in the early mornings when you're laying in bed between him and your cat who always seems to lay in the spot where you really need to move your leg. It's maybe not butterflies, but it's safety and honesty and home. Photos remind us of the strength, courage and hope that reside in all of us the way few other things can.
